I completely and totally missed the actual
pod_aware event, and this made me really down when I realised, becasue I am endlessly amazed at depth of insightful meta that podfic generates. I am not nearly as articulate as
revolutionaryjo or
podklb, in fact I am pretty much terrible at stringing two words together when I have to come up with them myself, but I still thought that I

Some random commentary as I've been sitting here and listening and not doing re-records and editing like I should be:
I think the fact that you started podficcing in 2010 is completely relevant to how you approach it. My perception is that it's only been in the last couple years that the scales have tipped from people doing podfic in the wild and then running across the podfic community, to people stumbling across the podfic community and going out and creating their own works.
"Oh THANK FUCK" is exactly how I feel when I find out there is blanket permission available too, ahahaha.
And B'AWWWWWW, NO. YOU ARE THE BEST BETA EVER. Especially for putting up with all my freaking out lately. Seriously. *clings to you* ;_ ( ... )

This reminds me of a peculiar incident I had a while ago. I read this fic on AO3, and really wanted to podfic it, but didn't know if this person was on LJ or not, so upon googling the author's AO3 name and the name of the fic, the first thing that pops up is...a podfic. And because by this stage I am like "repod, woo hoo!" I ask the author if they have any problems with me doing it as well... and they didn't know about this podfic that had already been done! So I feel like although there is more of an awareness of podfic out there, there's still a lot of wild podficcers out and about. I feel really lucky to have found amplificathon when I think about this ( ... )

As for your podfics, the joy you feel in them is very apparent, and it's impossible not to share that joy with you when listening. Most of us tend to be our own worst critics, but when an author or a listener praises your work, that is just as much their truth as the love of the stories you are performing is yours.
Personally, in my opinion, you and your podfics rock!

The more podfics I do, the harder I am on myself. I don't know why, I just feel like I'm regressing all the time. But really, thank you so much, I very much appreciate your support ♥
And if not for you and listeners like you, we would all have less fun around here. You rock, too!

I have a lot of thoughts on you Author/Podficcer Relationship podcast.
First of all, I get what you mean about being uncomfortable/intimidated around authors. Outside of fandom, the people who create things to entertain us are celebrities. Society raises these people up and it's hard to imagine just hanging out with them. So it's emotionally logical, if not realistically logical, that we treat the authors and other creators in fandom like celebrities. These are the people that create our entertainment! They're talented and awesome and cool and it feels pretty awkward to just start talking to them and expecting them to like us!Sure the reality of these situations are completely different, but emotionally sometimes showing someone a podfic I made of their fic feels a bit like sending Adam Lambert (or celebrity of your choice) a cover I did of one of his songs or something ( ... )

Regarding your thoughts on being around authors/celebrities, absolutely. People you look up to are so hard to approach. It also has to do with the reason for which you have to approach them - not only do I look up to them, I also have to ask them to do me a favour! Anyway, the whole process is a lot easier for me if they know I'm doing it out of love ( ... )
