I completely and totally missed the actual
pod_aware event, and this made me really down when I realised, becasue I am endlessly amazed at depth of insightful meta that podfic generates. I am not nearly as articulate as

My perception is that it's only been in the last couple years that the scales have tipped from people doing podfic in the wild and then running across the podfic community, to people stumbling across the podfic community and going out and creating their own works.
This reminds me of a peculiar incident I had a while ago. I read this fic on AO3, and really wanted to podfic it, but didn't know if this person was on LJ or not, so upon googling the author's AO3 name and the name of the fic, the first thing that pops up is...a podfic. And because by this stage I am like "repod, woo hoo!" I ask the author if they have any problems with me doing it as well... and they didn't know about this podfic that had already been done! So I feel like although there is more of an awareness of podfic out there, there's still a lot of wild podficcers out and about. I feel really lucky to have found amplificathon when I think about this.
YOU ARE ENTITLED TO FREAK OUT! I am still feeling my way around being a beta, so give me some tips when you can!!
I had a bit of bad luck on the author/podficcer relationship front that I don't think many other readers will experience. Oh, how I yearn for my innocent youth! With all the challenges like Spring fling and podtogether, I feel like podficcers will have the confidence to discuss these things with authors, or at least be more comfortable?
I love all the meta too ♥ Hearing podficcers talk about what they do makes me wanna draw hearts over everything.
