Про пирамиды надо все-таки закончить, а то меня уже опять на что-то другое переключило.
На сайте Британского музея имеется пара тысяч объектов, в описании которых встречается слово pyramid. Из них с картинками примерно половина, что содержит половина без картинок, я не знаю.
Артефакты с изображением ступенчатых пирамид встречаются в разных концах земного шара и отнесены в глубокую древность, кроме поделок из Ганы, честно датированных 18-20 вв.))

Картинки европейских художников с изображением пирамид составляют бОльшую часть результатов поиска. При этом ступенчатые пирамиды на них встречаются крайне редко и непосредственно к пирамидам относятся не всегда. Например, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, одно из семи чудес света, по нынешним представлениям пирамидой вроде бы не являлся, но на картинке представление явно другое.

Руины тут, кстати, римские, а надпись гласит, что это Пелопонес. Так что где был тот Пелопонес, тот еще вопрос)).
Картинок получилось много, они все чудесные, на мой взгляд, сократить их число мне не удалось, поэтому пришлось их поделить. В этом отделении будут "узкие" сооружения из обоих музеев.



Другая часть картинок изображает погребальные пямятники-монументы, что, видимо, являлось в свое время широко распространенной практикой. Но в эту часть они не поместились, еще будут потом.
Не стала соблюдать хронологию. И переводить с английского.

From a series of thirty-seven plates consisting of one frontispiece, twelve battles, five maps (one of them engraved by Giffart), a vignette by Soubeyran, six allegorical vignettes, five initial letters, and seven cul-de-lampes. A title ('Les Actions glorieuses de S. A. S. Charles Duc de Lorraine') was added at a later date.
They were meant to illustrate a history of Charles V of Lorraine which was never published. The plates were executed 1703-1704.
