Nov 05, 2007 10:04

So this weekend was Shichi-Go-San (literally "Seven-Five-Three") This is an important holiday in Japan for parents and Kids alike. Its really great because we got to put Luna in a Kimono and then she was blessed by a Shinto priest in NYC. It was really great. Heres a few pics behind the cut.

Luna looks so cute! Funny that you still fit in your wedding suit (go you indeed!) but have killer shoes.

HA omg, I have so much love for her asian girl pose in that second pic! :)

And I think it's great that you're so supportive of the Japanese aspect of your family. As a biracial person, I know from experience that it can be really difficult, and a supportive parent can mean a lot. My dad basically knew nothing about korean culture beyond the basics, and it was always pretty obvious that he didn't really have any desire to change that. Not that he was ashamed of my mom or anything, or that he discouraged it in me and my brother - he always told us to be proud of who we were, but he just wasn't supportive/proactive about it, you know? So I just wanted to give you some kudos on that front!

I try alot to show/give her the japanese way of things too. Like at home I speak english to her, and mom speaks Japanese. So her language skills are great right now.Not to mention the trips was take to Japan all the time (once a year). But yes I want her to be more Japanese, but being my child she can never escape her Italian side too. I mean her favorite food already is pasta. :)
