i have to buy a voice recorder for my sessions with Gloria. i'm not a note-taker, and even if i was, it's easiest to convey things to matthew that we discuss in his absence with straight play-back. that way, i don't have to try and be coherent about things i'm still processing, stuff i don't clearly understand, or stuff that makes me uncomfortable ( Read more... )

linking this post to the last philisophical one... you are only entitled (using the word cautiously here) to change those things over which you really do have control - yourself, your feelings, your expectations

more to that point: you are only CAPABLE of changing those things over which you really do have control - yourself, your feelings, your expectations.

You CANNOT change another person, through coercion, through love, through praying to gawd, through spells, through threats, through ANYTHING. If a person changes because of any of these things, they chose to change, even if for the wrong reasons. Yes, you may have influenced their decision to change, but you did not cause the change.

And if the people you are dealing with are unwilling to change to meet your comfort levels, then YOU need to choose whether to remain in that particular relationship or adjust your comfort levels accordingly.

Choice is the only thing in the entire universe we truly own. And people are so afraid to use it.

I can't wait to meet Gloria...
And I truly appreciate your willingness to share your own processes and challenges.

As usual, I find myself both inspired and challenged, to apply your questions to my world and see what I find....
