Sabin was out for his evening jog around the campus grounds when he saw the young boy. He looked much younger than any other student he'd seen here and was wandering lost around the campus and, figuring that that such a young child must be frightened all alone, the older man changed direction to intercept him.

As he closed on the boy, Sabin slowed and smiled at him; he'd always been able to build a good rapport with younger people and hoped that this would prove to be a situation where that would help.

"Hey there," he said in his friendliest voice, "You lost, little guy?"

"Hello." His voice was soft and he stood there rubbing at his shoulder. He was a little hungry and this must be one of his colleagues. "Um...Yeah I am lost...though I am a little ...reluctant to admit it." His right hand had a glove on it and the left, which was bare, flexed a few times.

Sabin nodded and smiled. The kid seemed smart; smart enough to be here, that was for sure. "Not a problem, kiddo. The boy's dorm is that way." he gestured toward the Dorm buildings in the distance. "If you ever need anything in there, just go talk with my brother, Edgar. He's in room 103. Oh," he added, feigning forgetfulness for the boy's sake, as he offered the youngster his hand, "My name's Sabin Figaro; I'm the professor of Botany here at the University."

He expected it. He didn't look like a teacher but, he just watched him, "I'm going to go eat something first..." He would keep it away just for a little while that he was a teacher. "Uh would you care to join me?" He would ask the other, "My name is Tir McDohl."

Sabin nodded; if the little guy was hungry, he'd consider it his good deed for the day to get him some dinner. He offered the youngster his hand and smiled. "Well then, it's nice to meet you, Tir. Let's head on over to the Mazinger and grab a burger or something. Sound good?"

"What's a burger?" He would ask rubbing the back of his neck looking at the other. "err...if you don't mind I don't like holding peoples hands." My this man was rather forward.

Sabin blinked and stared at the youngster for a moment. That he didn't know what a burger wasn't too strange, but Sabin had thought that a handshake was a universal gesture. Letting his hand lower, he laughed and shook his head.

"No no, I wasn't trying to hold your hand, Tir. Where I come from, a handshake is the way we greet people for the most part."

Turning toward the Mazinger, Sabin began to walk. "C'mon, I'll fill you in on what a burger is on the way. I think you'll like it."

"OH. I'm sorry it's just that you kept it extended and were speaking to me weirdly." He would offer his hand, "Uh sorry. Oh okay!" He kept up with the other and then smiled, "Um later can you show me where the teacher dorms are?"

Sabin nodded and continued smiling. "Not a problem, kiddo. I went through some culture shock when I got here myself, so I understand where you're coming from."

As they continued, Sabin explained the finer points of burgers to the youngster, and as they neared the Mazinger he turned and looked at Tir.

"Now, why would you want to find the Teacher dorms? Do have an older brother or sister who teaches here?"

"No. I live in the teachers dorms." McDohl would inform the other his cheeks flushing. Did he REALLY look that young? He looked down at his gloved hand and mentally yelled at it for a moment before turning a smile up to Sabin.

Sabin looked at the young man with a mixture of disbelief and surprise. Someone so young being a professor here? He could hardly believe it.

"You're a professor here? I'm impressed. I thought that it was just us older folks who were allowed to teach; you must really know your stuff, Tir. What is it you're teaching, exactly?"
