Atem sensed the creature's summon before he felt the shaking of the earth, and his attention had swiveled to the window before Yuugi had gotten up. He hadn't moved, however, until he saw that look on his other self's voice and heard him shout. That launched him to his feet and he was at Yuugi's side in an instant, momentary shock at the feeling of the summoning worn off ( ... )

"Hiiiee!!" Tsuna wobbled dangerously as the library shook, arms flailing as he tried to catch his balance. What in the world was going on? He held onto the shelving in an attempt to stay upright, eyes widening as he felt them shake as well, tipping forward a little more each time. They were going to fall! Tsuna squeaked and scrambled to get out of the stacks, hoping beyond hope that his luck would hold long enough to avoid being crushed ( ... )

There was something really, really awful outside. And it was getting closer. Tsuna knew it in that unshakable sort of way he knew most things his intuition told him. He looked up, brows drawing inward as he focused. Yeah. Getting out of here was a very good idea. He turned back to his companion and made another attempt at waking him. Tsuna really, really hoped it worked this time.

"Come on, get up. Please wake up. The building is about to come down, we have to move."

The terrible feeling that rushed over Frau stopped him dead in his tracks. Verloren. No. The feeling wasn't the same. No where near the same. "My God what could possibly make me thing it was Verloren?" Not a good sign at all. Frau whipped out of the boys' dorms to try and catch a glimpse of whatever was radiating that amount of power.

What he saw was beyond even his imagination. "Holy shit..." Frau tore his gaze from the Balrog when he realized that something felt odd. He glanced at his hands to find them shaking. One of the seven ghosts shaking in fear? This wasn't going to be good.

The initial surge of energy that radiated over the island was what alerted him first. The rumble and the way the building shook and rattled was a close second, and Sasuke all but threw his books from his lap as he stood and approached the window.

What he saw there sent shivers down his spine. In seconds he had the glass pane pushed up, bracing one hand on the windowsill in order to swing himself over so that he could drop to the ground below. The sharingan was swirling in his eyes before his feet even touched the pavement... and sure enough the creature was almost blinding in the amount of energy it gave off, dark, powerful, and malicious. It took him a moment to even notice the man standing nearby as a result.

"What the hell is that thing?"

"Something really, really bad is my guess," Teito answered, trotting up with an anxious look on his face. He gave the... monster another long look as he took his place beside Frau, swallowing thickly. It was terrifying. Teito reached out blindly to tangle his fingers in Frau's robes for comfort before really realizing it.

"I thought it was Verloren at first," he admitted to the bishop quietly. "And I swear I still sense Wars."

"I'd say the same as Teito. There are only a few things I know of that give off energy like that." He noticed Teito's action a moment later and rested his hand on the boy's back once he was sure his own hands were shaking anymore.

"I thought it was too," he told Teito softly. The news that Teito was still sensing wars wasn't welcome, but that had to be dealt with later. They had bigger problems for now.

"This thing is way out of our league..." That was saying something considering who, or what, Frau was.

There were a few benefits to being a shinigami, and Tsuzuki was certainly feeling one of those now. He certainly hadn't been intending on testing the limits of his regenerative powers today. All he had wanted to do was practice a little bit of ping pong.

Tsuzuki shifted slightly and pain lanced through him. He wasn't going anywhere, that was for sure. Something had come out of no where and blown the pub to bits and pieces. As everything was going down around him, Tsuzuki thought he had caught a flash of fire, but he wasn't sure. Tsuzuki wasn't too concerned about what actually caused the collapse. Instead he was more concerned about who was going to stop the thing from causing more destruction. He didn't want anyone else getting hurt. If only he wasn't so useless right now!

That certainly was a pain. Sleep was a gift C.C. had a lack of. She looked out from her window, only to see smoke rising into the dimming sky. Immediately, she snapped to her senses, recalling the fires which burned her long ago. Her trembling hands touched her forearms. Something had to be done. The witch willed her feet to move, but nothing. She did nothing for a minute.

She had no plans. C.C. relied on instinct to keep her alive. Something told her someone was trapped in the fires. She forced herself move and ran out the room, heading toward the ruined pub.

Dust was thick and heavy in the air, a choking mixture of splintered dry wall, shattered wood, and the other detritus of the pub's collapse. Yamato coughed painfully into his hand, opening his eyes cautiously. He'd managed to avoid getting caught in the very worst of the destruction - he was almost positive it was only because some of Taichi's luck had rubbed off on him - and instead found himself in a small pocket where the damage was relatively less severe ( ... )

Okay, Taichi had complained before about the island being boring, but he hadn't really wanted anything dangerous to happen. Okay, maybe he sort of did, but not in the way it was going. He definitely didn't want anyone to get hurt.

When he'd felt the ground shake, he'd been in the athletics building. It hadn't taken long to run outside--Taichi didn't know the meaning of 'take cover'--but the sight of the Balrog had stopped him in tracks, despite it being halfway across the campus. That was... What was that? A moment of shock and he'd gotten over it, doing the very stupid and very Taichi thing to do of going toward the danger. He had to figure out what was going on ( ... )

After Hakkai had posted his question about defeating the balrog, he'd headed back outside. There was really no point in waiting around for an answer. Someone would figure it out, but in the meantime there was work to be done. Destruction reigned around campus, which meant that somewhere people where probably hurt. A sudden flash of white at eye level drew Hakkai's attention. Hakuryuu was hovering a short distance away. Once the dragon had been spotted, Hakuryuu turned into a jeep. Taking the hint, Hakkai jumped in and let Hakuryuu lead.

The jeep screeched to a halt outside of the Mazinger pub, or at least what used to be the pub. Hakkai dove out and hurried to join Taichi. "Is anyone inside?" he questioned.

Taichi was now wearing a serious frown on his face; he'd listened, but heard no one shout back in response. Maybe they just couldn't hear him with everything going on. His voice had never carried as well as he'd wanted anyway.

He'd been about to just start searching blindly when he heard the screech of a vehicle, turning his attention toward Hakkai. "I don't know; haven't heard anything yet. Probably." The answers were quick, as he conveyed as much information as was necessary as quickly as possible. He wasn't waiting around any longer. "I'm going to find out." And with that, he began into the remains of the building.

Hakkai didn't need to know any more than what Taichi had told him. If there was even the chance that someone was stuck inside, Hakkai would stick around to help. Nobody needed to die during this. They were all going to make it out alive! That decision made, Hakkai headed for the ruins of the pub as well.
