HALLOWEEN EVENT // The Park

Oct 30, 2009 19:09

The park at the north end of the campus seems to have become the center of activity for the night -- a wooden floor has been laid down for dancing with the musicians standing by (you'd be surprised how musical bones can be), and sneering jack-o-lanterns compete with a roaring bonfire for the most dramatic lighting. There's also a buffet, and while ( Read more... )

Simon's hand still clung to Nia's when they stumbled onto the park, drawn by the light of the bonfire. He stared for a few seconds at the table before something that previously looked delicious snapped at him. What kind of place was this?! A cold sweat broke out on the back of his neck. A normal life, all he asked for was an extremely normal life... whyyyyyyyy....

His hand tightened around hers as he looked for someone--anyone to tell them what the heck was going on!

Nia, on the other hand, was completely enthralled with the singing and dancing skeletons. "Look, Simon!" she said as she nudged her friend and pointed at them, "They have such musical talent!"

... Those were costumes, right...?

"U-uh... yeah. Talent." He pulled her closer to them, for a moment as if to ask for directions, when he realized they weren't costumes. Nia, I think your boyfriend just passed out.

Oh dear.

"Simon?" she asked as soon as he passed out on the ground. She bent over and peered at him, shaking his shoulder lightly.

"Simon!"

In a flash, she was up and grabbing a cup of sticky yet cold punch, throwing it on Simon's face to wake up him.

Frau picked up on her sadness right away. Now he knew she'd wanted to come here with someone, and apparently that someone wasn't here. She was just a kid, but she seemed so hurt about not having the one she wanted here too despite her arguments otherwise. Well, Frau would just have to fix that.

The bishop stepped forward a bit. When the light touched him his costume changed. No longer Frankenstein, Frau was now dressed like this. He gave Rebecca another warm smile and held out his hand for her. After all, it was far better to dance in this new outfit.

Atem, meanwhile, was standing near but not too near the buffet, staring at the bonfire though he probably should have been paying more attention to Linali, his date. The scarf she'd given him for Christmas last year was tucked around his neck, hiding the lower part of his face as he watched the dancing flames and flickering shadows. Two of the distant shadows detached from the darkness, and he turned his attention to them. When he suddenly realized that he was seeing Frau and Rebecca of all people preparing to dance with each other, he was quite glad for the cover of the scarf, because his jaw dropped.

Risa fidgeted slightly. She knew she was supposed to meet him here but...but everything was so scary different. She clasped her hands together infront of her and stood at the edge of the dancefloor, looking around anxiously. She wasn't exactly sure what Ramza was wearing and now she was starting to feel like she should have told him of her pure white ballerina costume so he could find her instead.

Fluffing out her tulle-laced skirt, she rubbed the skin on her arms to keep her warm in the chilly Halloween air. "Ramza, where are you...?"

Ramza walked nervously around the park, searching for his lady. He'd made it back to his room from the field and fixed his arm up with a potion, but the healing liquid hadn't been able to repair his costume. His sleeve had an ugly, bloodstained gash in it. The knight had thrown a cloak over his shoulder to cover it, but because he couldn't change out of his costume, he was stuck calling upon Risa in a state of disarray.

Nonetheless, he could not wait to see her. He circled the dance floor until he found her, looking pale and perfect in her white dress. He strode up to her quickly. "My lady," he greeted, bowing and taking her hand to kiss. "Forgive me for being late."

Risa sighed in relief when she saw Ramza, unable to see his bloodstain from the expertly donned cloak. She thought in the back of her mind it was sweet of him to bring a cloak for when she got cold because that was, obviously, what it was for.

She blushed gently and gave a small curtsy to him before moving closer and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Hi! I'm so glad you're here!! This place is so creepy!!"

Ramza touched his hands (ungloved for once with his costume) and touched Risa's cheek. He leaned in hesitantly and gave her a chaste kiss on the lips.

"I hope you have not been unsettled by it, my Risa. I would have come earlier, had I known," he apologized. He stepped back and offered her his hand.

"May I have this dance?" he asked. He wanted to explore the park and the buffet later, but for now, while the music playing was still a mournful waltz, he wanted to dance with Risa. When the music sped up again to another fast songs like had been playing for most of the night, Ramza wasn't sure he would know how to do the proper dance.
