Shion was wandering around the beach. She needed to be alone. When you are deaf, there is no other voice than your mind, and when your mind is the only voice, you remember the things that you swore to forget a long time ago...
She looks in the distance to see a boy cupping his hand. Was he yelling she couldn't tell. She ran toward the boy, hoping to get some sort of answer.

Alfred stopped yelling when he saw a figure approaching out of the corner of his eye. It wasn't Tony, it was a green-haired girl. Alfred slouched a little. She probably didn't have his hamburger. Still...

Realistically speaking, the hamburger being lost wasn't such a big deal. He was in a new place! New was exciting.

He grinned and extended his arm as if to shake the newcomer's hand. "Hello, my name is Alfred F. Jones. I believe I've been kidnapped by aliens. Have you been abducted as well? Don't worry, I'm sure we'll be all right. We just need to report this to the proper authorities and... hmm, I wonder who the proper authorities are in this situation? Do aliens have a police force?"

Looking at his lips her face gave off a baffled expression. Her lip reading must be off because she could have sworn that he had said alien several times.

She tried to fill in the blanks from what was going on as she saw him extend his hand. 'I guess he is new here',she thought. She shook his hand and tried her hardest to enunciate correctly. "I can't hear you it's no good for you to say anything. Look in your pockets...you should find a letter explaining everything."

Alfred looked at her blankly for a moment. Letter in his pocket? Tony had written him a letter? It was sure to be full of profanity...

He rummaged around a little, because his outfit contained many, many pockets. Finally, in the breast pocket of his jacket, he found the letter Shion had mentioned.

Scrunching his face in concentration, he read. And read.

And read some more.

"... What?!"

Ty Lee was absolutely distraught at the fact she could no longer sense auras. She had been gifted with that ability ever since she was a child, and it had always made her feel more at one with the universe. She could read people better that way... and it didn't really help that no one was sympathizing with her now! Those jerks. (It really hadn't crossed her mind that she was luckier than most).

She was sitting on the beach, curled up and watching the waves sadly and moping in her misfortune when she heard someone calling. She lifted her head and stared at the strange blond man who had seemingly appeared from nowhere. Her sadness wiped away for a brief moment in time, she leaped to her feet and rushed over to him.

He was kinda cute, after all.

"Hello!"

Alfred pushed his glasses upward, peering over them at Ty Lee. "Hello yourself!" he said, beaming. To him, she almost looked like one of Arthur's little fairies, a tiny pixie-creature of a girl. However, the contents of the letter he had just read led him to believe otherwise. Still, there couldn't be any harm in asking, right?

"You wouldn't happen to be a fairy, would you?" he queried, putting his hands together and making a flapping motion, as if demonstrating Ty Lee's 'invisible' wings. "Or perhaps some kind of... forest pixie?"

Ty Lee stopped running as soon as soon as Alfred asked her that question. She tilted her head and looked thoughtful for a moment before she answered. "No!" she finally said cheerfully, "But I used to be in the circus!"

Not that the circus really had anything to do with anything, but she thought it prudent to mention it anyway.

Grinning, Alfred nodded. "I like the circus. Acrobats are great! And there's lions, too." He paused. "But you're sure you're not a fairy? Hmm. Not fairies or aliens then." He held up his hand, ticking the two items off as he spoke.

"Perhaps I'm hallucinating. Or dreaming. Would you care to pinch me, please?"

Alfred nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! A murder mystery. I can be Sam Spade and you can be Miles Archer!" He looked quite pleased with himself for this. "You don't look much like Jerome Cowan, and I certainly am no Bogart, but that's fine."

"First, we look for clues!" His stomach took this opportunity to grumble loudly. "I wonder if there are any clues in the cafeteria..."

Ty Lee didn't recognize any of those names, seeing as she was from the Fire Nation and... well, they definitely didn't have a Sam Spade or Miles Archer of Jerome Cowan there. At least, not to her knowledge. Either way, that fact didn't seem to phase her much. She was sure Alfred knew what he was talking about! And if he said she was a Miles Archer, then she trusted him!

"I've been to the cafeteria!" she said with a cheerful nod, her brain bouncing behind her as she did so, "They have Fire Cake there!"

Alfred looked instantly intrigued. "Fire Cake? What's a Fire Cake? Is it spicy? I'm pretty fond of spicy food." He patted his empty stomach. That hamburger must've been hours ago, or else he had gotten caught in some weird time warp that magically drained the contents of his stomach.

The investigation could surely wait until he had eaten, right?

Of course it could! Now that they were talking about Fire Cake, Ty Lee was starving! "Yes! It's very spicy!" she paused and thought for a moment, "And sweet too. It's sweet-spicy!" Which was the best part about Fire Nation cuisine in her opinion. It was the perfect mixture of sweetness and spice.

She walked a few steps before turning around and waving her hand. "Follow me!" She then walked toward a staircase that was near the dock area.

Veritably as mute as Shion was deaf, Alfred followed. However, after a few moments, he seemed to forget his companion couldn't hear him, because he started up a running commentary of everything they saw.

"Hey, that's a weird tree..." He put a hand over his eyes to shield them from the light. "Kinda funny looking leaves." He reached out to touch one. "And wow, that's a big rock. Would be swell if it had a face carved into it. Hey, that's not such a bad idea..." This continued for the entirety of the walk, every random piece of scenery apparently fascinating to the tall blond man.

Flora was out taking a flight to see whatever else there might be around this area. So far, she hadn't seen...huh? What was that below that seemed to be strolling around on the beach?

"Aww...poor thing, they look lost. I'll try to help them," she said as she flew down and landed a few feet away from where the other was wandering as she de-transformed. "Um, excuse me?" she called out to him.

Alfred blinked a few times, looking around at the area beyond Flora, as if confused about where she had been shortly before greeting him. "Yes?" he said, finally remembering himself. "Hello there, and who might you be?" He smiled, somewhat blankly. Lost indeed...

"I'm Flora. You look a little lost sweetie. Are you ok?" she smiled her trademark smile.

"Ah, I'm not precisely lost..." Alfred grinned. "I'm never lost." He crossed his arms, looking an odd mix of triumphant and stubborn. "How about you, are you lost?"
