You know how you hope that the day starts out fine, or at least without a disaster?

Can I have a do-over on the morning?

Short version of the story:

The plastic bolt holding the flexible connector from the pipes to the toilet on the first floor broke, and water went everywhere.  Turning off the water at the toilet didn't help as it wouldn't shut all ( Read more... )

As bad as that sounds, I guess it could have been a lot worse. I hope you (and the books) dry out soon.

We're dry now. We still need to catalogue what books got destroyed. Irony of ironies, I have a gift card or two that I can use.

Thanks. I still have a pile of books spread out on the floor in the living room that I have to completely assess, but on the face of it I think we got very lucky and that most of those books are usable.

ick! Hopefully it was at least clean water. (Waterlogged books can be frozen when still damp until you have time to thaw them and fix them correctly. Just an FYI.)

Yes, thankfully it was clean. Oh well, the books are dry now. Most did survive, but a few are going to the great recycling house in the sky. (Or treatment plant. Whichever you prefer.)
