Not that a tour wouldn't be great, but I'm hoping for a DVD. I've read that a DVD for Hamlet is pretty much a done deal, but I haven't heard anything about this one.
Well, you can donate to RSC America, which does occasionally bring productions over here - although they'd usually be to New York, or very rarely DC (at the Folger Theatre).
What's really scary is that the current all-male production of Romeo and Juliet here in DC (authentically all-male, not drag per se) is that they seem to have purchased the leather doublet DT used during his run at the RSC.
Well, they are, but I believe if they're like any theatre company, they do occasionally sell them off. I know the Shakespeare Theatre here (et al.) certainly do. They just don't have infinite storage space.
I know for a fact that the costumes for Arena Stage are rented out sometimes, as well as sold to other companies. I used to sew for them when I was at NCS in DC back in the 70s -- the girls there (at least, back then -- I don't know if they still do it) were interned to learn prop and costume creation. I learned all my sewing from those days -- the costumes had to be perfectly made with hand-sewn details, as Arena has the audience quite close to the stage area.
