There's a great photo of the crowd, as seen from the stage, in an article in the Chicago Tribune. We were way up by where the flag was, and we couldn' ( Read more... )

Heh. I always wished I had taken a class with Tom. He seems pretty cool.

I've been meaning to ask you your opinion on this for some time: if one needed to have intermediate French proficiency to graduate from his master's program, yet had not done much with French since his freshman year of college (when he completed said intermediate proficiency the first time), what kind of materials would you suggest for a refresher?

I'm so excited that you're in a masters program :))) It's such fun hearing about where all of you are heading in your lives.

The University of Texas in Austin has a fabulous review website (I wrote them for permission to link to their website, and at the end of her response, the prof wrote, "Hook 'em." I chuckled mightily.

Here is a link on my PHS website to a list of specific activities within their website, as well as too their main website, and to my online Passé Composé review activities (I use a company called QUIA). If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me. You can do that through my website, too. By the way, the U Tex website has podcast things, too, so there is listening practice.

We ALL know you're a fast learner (tell your dad I said that:))), so you'll pick it up again quickly! (Just remember how to pronounce Monsieur )

Oh yes, you can also find a few helpful reference sheets on my PHS page on the French Reference Sheets to Download page. I think I put a verb list and something about agreement in Passé Composé and which verbs use avoir, which use être, and which might use either, depending on the meaning.
