This is topic #5 for therealljidol - OPEN TOPIC. This means, of course, that I can talk about anything I want. This may be a good thing, or it may be a bad thing. We shall see....

A couple of months ago, I wrote an entry regarding my opinions on the God of the Bible and how he is not a god with whom I wish to be associated. I still think it was pretty good ( Read more... )

Excellent and thought provoking post. I have always thought it important to think about these kind of issues and come to a personal world-view, sometimes it can be very hard to put into words and I feel you've done it very well.

On the reincarnational aspects of your theory you might some time look at the writings of Jane Roberts, an American medium who aside from channelling an entity called Seth, wrote a series of novels based on some of the Seth Material.

The first one was called 'The Education of Oversoul Seven' and there were 3 books - ah - I found a link to a collected edition: Oversoul Seven Trilogy.

In the book there is this idea of incarnations taking place forward and backward in time and simultaneously. It certainly gave me much to think about on the subject and I'd been reading extensively about reincarnation when I first encountered it.

I get sucked into my head, and I think about how to refund public education with state dollars instead of local property tax. You take on God, the Soul, and reincarnation. Huh.

Y'know where this could be used? A certain novel you started writing and stopped. *cough cough* - Soulie

At least the problems you ponder have a reasonable chance of being solved. *grin* And yes, I really should dust off the ol' fiction folder, shouldn't I.?

Aside from the theological implications, which I do not belittle... this would make an EXCELLENT roleplaying game.

*grin*

I LOVED this post... your ideas are interesting and it is very well written...

Interesting exercise.

Would "God" necessarily be living those lives, or would he be merely experiencing them? How much does the soul affect the mind and body? Perhaps that could explain how Hitler and Eric Clapton (I'm sorry, but Paris Hilton is the anti-god - she has no god in her) share the same soul. If the mind and body are not governed by the soul, that would also negate the argument of predestination, at least insomuch as the concurrent or consecutive generations of the soul are part of it.

I thought about that - the God-soul as kind of a passenger, rather than the driver - but hadn't quite figured out how to best work it into the theory. I think it would dilute the experience a bit; God would be experiencing life as an observer, rather than a participant. And yeah, it really depends on that unknowable variable: how much actual effect can a soul have on the organism in which it resides? You're right, though, in that it would solve some of the problems.... Thanks!
