I spent some time on the phone with a very nice girl who was actually in the same country as me (shock! horror!)

Ha! That's such a surprise!

Yeah, we're with Bigpond too. Never had a problem with them. The main problem with our internet is the people living in the house, lol. I've broken one modem, my sister pushed the ethernet port in the computer tower into the tower and it's gone now (luckily there is two) Hahaha...oh, dear.

Anyway, hopefully your 'net woes are all behind you *hugs*

That's reassuring to hear. My brother and a few friends are with Bigpond, and they don't have any complaints. Fingers crossed, hey?

And AND, how much cuter is an email that says 'bigpond' than 'optusnet'. Notice the 'net' is restrictive, the 'pond' is where you can swim freely. Yes I should go to bed.

We have telstra bigpond, and yeah, they're evil, but the one time our service totally died in the last three years was when our router got fried by lightning and it's hard to be mad about that.

You can also bundle it with cable tv, or you used to be able to, btw. You have foxtel, no? See if they still include it.

We do have Foxtel, but we're just going to switch the home phone across for now as well, which gets us a nice discount on the broadband. *bounces*

I can relate...*pats in sympathy*.

We used to have a different provider, can't remember who, but they were down half the time and crashed continually even when they did work. So then we went to Brighthouse for the internet and cable and Embarq for the phone. With no long distance as they had hideous prices for that.

And then Brighthouse called us with a really good offer bundling all 3 with free long distance to Canada and Puerto Rico and about $40 less per month. Yeah, I know they are the Evil Empire here too but money and service counts.

Nice to know it's a worldwide issue, lol!

Sometimes I think these companies take advantage of the fact that it's a big drama to swap from one to the other. But after eight months of BS from them, I'm prepared to put up with a bit of drama.

I'm glad you switched hon. I hope it means less stress and frustration for you, even with the big, evil company. Your being offline all the time simply didn't work...for me. ;)
