I sent this letter to my governor, representatives, and senators:
Dear Elected Official,
I am a radiologic technologist at a local hospital who can't even afford to be seen at my own place of employment, because I am considered an "unscheduled" employee. I work between 2 and 3 days a week, which is barely enough to pay my bills, yet I was booted off Oregon Health Plan last June for "making too much money." On what bizarro planet does this make sense? Why is MY health and well-being less important than someone else's just because they work more hours? I should NEVER have to envy my patients' or coworkers' ability to receive health care! Something really needs to be done. I suggest a law that requires hospitals to provide healthcare for ALL their employees at no charge. Perhaps funding could be obtained by legalizing and taxing marijuana? Oregon is well-known for its socially and fiscally progressive ideals...what better way to prove it?
