It would've been different if it had been anyone else. Heading to upstate New York wasn't really her deal, and pushing things off onto other people wasn't what she wanted to be known for. She was finally getting handed things that she actually felt were worth her effort, and didn't want to go back to just getting things set up for other people.

He was expecting her though, so he waited by the door for most of the day. Sometimes reading. Sometimes pacing. Sometimes lost in his own thoughts. By the time she had rang the bell and taken a step away from the heavy wooden door, he'd flung it open, wearing a smile that morphed into a puzzled look as he glanced at her.
"Did you pack a bag?" He said as he stepped out of the doorway so that she could walk inside.

Smirking she turned on heel, pointing toward her car, "Everything's in there. I didn't feel like dragging it out of the car just yet."
Facing him again, she gave him a curious look, "Do you want me to go get it? Cause it's just in the back."

Why would she think to bring the bag in with her? She probably had no idea what he had in mind for travel.
"Yes." He answered, almost regally. "Let's go get it."
