[for Philip] figured I'd drive all night

It would've been different if it had been anyone else. Heading to upstate New York wasn't really her deal, and pushing things off onto other people wasn't what she wanted to be known for. She was finally getting handed things that she actually felt were worth her effort, and didn't want to go back to just getting things set up for other people. ( Read more... )

The fact that Faith was not a call ahead girl worked for him. Phil couldn't own a cellphone even if he wanted to and in a house full of wizards as powerful as his family, the reliability of the land line was spotty at best.

He was expecting her though, so he waited by the door for most of the day. Sometimes reading. Sometimes pacing. Sometimes lost in his own thoughts. By the time she had rang the bell and taken a step away from the heavy wooden door, he'd flung it open, wearing a smile that morphed into a puzzled look as he glanced at her.

"Did you pack a bag?" He said as he stepped out of the doorway so that she could walk inside.

Amused, Faith let out half of a laugh as she shook her head, "Nice to see you too." It wasn't meant to poke fun at him, but it had been a while since she'd seen him, and now the greeting she got was a curious look, paired with a question.

Smirking she turned on heel, pointing toward her car, "Everything's in there. I didn't feel like dragging it out of the car just yet."

Facing him again, she gave him a curious look, "Do you want me to go get it? Cause it's just in the back."

Phil didn't laugh very much, despite having a healthy sense of humor. None of the men in the family did, though he was sure the reasons for each were different. Still, his lips twisted in amusement.

Why would she think to bring the bag in with her? She probably had no idea what he had in mind for travel.

"Yes." He answered, almost regally. "Let's go get it."

Shrugging, she followed him toward her car. Pulling her keys from her pocket, she clicked the button, unlocking the car and opening the back door. Faith grabbed her bag, slinging it over her shoulder, and turning to face Philip.

"So, I've got my bag, can I get a hello?" She smirked up at him, eyeing him carefully.

Philip, mildly irritated that she had already slung her bag over her shoulder where he couldn't carry it for her, blinked.

"Oh, yes. I suppose I forgot about that didn't I?" The corners of his mouth upturned into the patented DuMorne apologetic smile and he leaned forward to give her a hug.

Faith was never the sort to need someone else to carry her bag, and despite the irritation she figured was there, she was going to stick to her guns.

Leaning up, she pressed up a bit to meet his height, and was a bit disappointed that all she got out of him was a hug, but then again they hadn't seen each other in a while, so there was apparently some reacquainting that would need to be done.

Stepping back, her shoulders shrugged for a moment, "Place looks the same."
