Sorry about your friends issue. I had the same thing happen to me 2 years ago. My best friend started sleeping with my fiancee..we'd been together for 7 years, while I was staying in the hospital with my grandmother when she got cancer. It's pretty lame when you can't trust those closest to you anymore.
