Sherlock Holmes Versus Count Dracula

Tonight on BBC7 at 8pm, I listened to it earlier and it was very good, could have been very hammy and camp and very occasionally it was but on the whole it was very good indeed. Creepy and suspenseful too - the descriptions of the captains corpse lashed to the wheel of the ship were especially gripping ( Read more... )

It's actually a bit of 'fan fiction' written in the 70s by an American. I have the book. It is written very much as a Sherlocks Holmes story. I will have to go on BBC7 and listen to it.

I taped it on our old-style video, as we get BBC 7 on our Virgin cable box but the V+ record function won't record radio channels!

Anyway, it was rather good. Good enough to prompt me to break open and start watching the entire Granada Sherlock Holmes box-set I got for Xmas/birthday...

I avoided it because of the reasons you thought it would be monsterously poor. I will give it a second chance.

I was very pleasantly surprised by it, but then the lead actors were quality. I think I only really cringed when Holmes said 'elementary'.
