Hey, look at that, I disagree with mostly the entire post...lol! Seriously, and it's not just you, but I don't get the Wes/Fred hate, I really don't. In my opinion, they're the only couple who made sense on that show, and I'm still bitter about their ending. Completely agree with Cordy/Connor, I could have done without ever having to see that.
I don't hate Wes/Fred, but it was like...like a step up from Bangel. He didn't see her for who she really was. I don't know what the crap to think from Fred's end :p However, all that said, the "Wesley--why can't I stay?" broke my heart a little :/
Aw, I love Wesley and Fred. Until Spike showed up, they were the main reason I tuned in to AtS. (Not saying the show wasn't good; it was great. It just didn't draw me the way BtVS did.) Then again, I'm a sucker for brooding Englishmen and doomed romances. ;P
I totally agree about canon!Spuffy being a train wreck. I love them in fanon, but in canon I preferred it when things were platonic, like in season five. I loved season five. If their relationship could have stayed like that through the entire series, (him filled with unrequited love, her with exasperation and confusion) I would have been perfectly happy.
<--was initially going to ask who that girl in your icon was :P Realizes now it's a guy, just not sure who...
Actually, overall, I loved Ats more than BtVS.
Agreed on s5. It's unfortunate the writers didn't let them saty on that course (which really, was leading away from unrequited love). I thought they were going that route in s6 but after the first few eps...
I love that reading your post makes me feel like we watched entirely different shows. :) I've always been pretty open to an eventual Angel/Spike...they both have a prettiness, I like pretty boys kissing each other, it's cute when they rattle each other, etc. I'm fairly certain that at this point Angel has blown his chances with Spike, though. I don't know if Angel is capable of maturing enough to be with Spike. Weird, huh? Wesley and Spike might have worked, if I ever got the vibe from Wesley that he'd do boys. He really only had eyes for Fred though

Wow. Yeah, we totally were watching different shows :P I couldn't see a Spike/Wes. In the early seasons, there was just something from Wesley's end that spoke of more than mere adoration for Angel...maybe it was the way Alexis played it--I don't know--but he sometimes came off as the scorn lover, or the guy with unrequited love.
Fred/Wes...I thought they had a lovely ending. It broke my heart. But I just didn't care about them being together. They had no real oomph or something...however, I don't think they were boring.
But Spuffy had cannon moments of near perfection. Season Five pretty much worked, as did the first few episodes of season six. Really, up until she decided to stop treating him like a friend but have hate sex instead...we were good.
Word. But the badness trumps the good bits for me. Canonly speaking.
I'll go with you on the Wes/Fred thing. I loved Wes. I loved Fred. But... I didn't like Wes/Fred together much. There was just something about it that bugged. Seriously, I swear to God, I liked Fred/Gunn more and I wasn't even particularly interested in that. Wes/Lilah was all kinds of wrong, but I've got to say... it was hot.
Buffy/Riley was dullsville for me. They were TV Ambien for me.
The "Sick Bastard" thing I'd have to say is Buffy/Dawn. Dawn is Buffy's sister-daughter. I just can't wrap my head around that one. (Same goes for Angel/Connor. I just don't get... why go there?)
The "It makes no sense but what the hell, why not?" I'd put Spike/Xander.
Wes/Lilah...man, how I wished they'd have just gone to couples counseling :/ Srsly, they would have been awesome if Wes wasn't such a douche and Lilah wasn't so career oriented. They could have just done their own thing and had all kinds of awesome sex in a healthy way.
Buffy/Riley was dullsville for me. They were TV Ambien for me.
Ha! YES!! Though whenever they made out...I vomited a bit in my mouth.
Buffy/Dawn?? Dude. That never even crossed my mind. Same for Angel/Connor.
<--does NOT get incest...
Spander...I just don't see Spike being interested in him in that way (though I can't say the same for Xander). I don't know why I can see Spandrew working in canon and not Spander...nope, can't explain it. And now, I kind of want to write fic for that :p

I loved Buffy/Riley and hated the way they wrote Riley out.
