I'm reading Billy Bragg's A progressive patriot and Billy says that us on the left have to regain or discover a sense of patriotism. A sense which, obviously, will be found in different things to the people who say they are proud of their country. It's not something I’m good at so...I’m gonna practice.

I'm proud of my country for its people and its trees. When people think they are better than people and trees and try to organise people and trees without proper thought, thats when they need sending to their bedrooms.

I may be biased, as I believe trees make better people than people do!
