In all the controversy (?) surrounding the new birth control pill Lybrel (wtf? seriously.), I read this,
My one worry is that a sort of stigma might become attached to women who choose to go on bleeding. Kind of like women who choose unmedicated, unhospitalized childbirth??

I used to have a t-shirt that said:

I am a woman. I can bleed for days and not die.

That would make a kick ass feminist icon, methinks.

Hard to imagine getting one's period as being stigmatized. Or giving birth naturally.

I can see the getting one's period being stigmatized if it interfered with something. You'd get the, "Well, you don't have to have it! It's your fault" shit.
