Philadelphia. Why am I not surprised.

Last month, a Philly cop shot himself intentionally in the shoulder, then blamed an imaginary black man. He finally confessed on Tuesday.

The commissioner said that Ralston, who is white, told police his attackers were black because the district where the shooting took place is predominately black.

Uh-huh.

Ralston, a 21-year veteran of the ( Read more... )

It makes me sick as it is when some dipshit commits a crime and then points a finger at a PoC in the hopes that racist thinking will deflect suspicion. How fucked up do you have to be to stage a crime in order to..what, validate racism???

He probably shot himself and blamed someone else so that he could sit home and collect a pension and disability. That said, he trusted that his fellow officers would readily believe a black guy shot him, and he was right.

And apparently assumed they'd ignore the forensic evidence not matching his story, too, I gather.

Okay, I just read the article about the teenage kid getting battered by those assholes. I'd say something, but this is unlocked, and all I've got is violent rhetoric that might traumatize some special snowflake.

I should know by now not to even think of looking at comments.

Wow what a bunch of characters in here. A beat down never looks good now does it, But other than some swelling and some missing hair does the poor fiddle player have any real injuries? People get this messed up from falling down a few stairs. Only those officers and young man- who was referred to as a "boy" by one big-shot in one of the "poor me" groups, know what happened that night. And the young man's belief he was about to be abducted? He might be a great fiddler but whoah there... is he having some super-duper genetic flashback or what? The only white men in that urban blight are cops and junkies. His being from the neighborhood I'm sure he knew what was going down. Or maybe he thinks he is beyond giving police the respect they warrant when they say "Stop! Police don't move! This department just lost three officers in one day less than a year ago. They want to go home to there wives and kids like any one else. If they screwed up thats one thing but this politically- ( ... )

I got my first flat tire in about 20 years yesterday afternoon on an elevated patch of I-95 in south Phillthy. As I changed the tire in the hot sun, noticing all the lovely NAILS on the shoulder my biggest concern was not my full bladder, getting hit by an idiot driver or the truck falling over on me; I was worried about one of those barrel-assed, donut-munching, pud-pulling* dickhead cops pulling over and using my predicament and/or appearance (i.e., greasy hair, unshaven for three days, car full of camping gear) as an excuse to search and/or harrass me. Fortunately for me there must have been a sale at Krispy Kreme as none of them stopped to "help." :-/

* To paraphrase Agent Paul Smecker, with much love.
