I think the weird thing in this fandom is that it's all pretty happy and fun and people are willing to poke fun at the show while being involved with it... and then there are the Character Stans. Which, since the show is essentially based on the concept of taking black-and-white fairytale/Disney movie characters and putting them in morally grey areas with their own motivations and pasts and everything, is kind of ironic because no one's situation is unambiguous, that's the fucking pointI mean, I LOVE Regina. I think she's been dealt an atrocious hand in life, she's not got enough perspective to realize how frequently people use her, basically no one acknowledges her role as an adoptive mother. It cracks me up when I see people reading all these secret things into looks and imagined hidden parallels. The show really doesn't operate like that. It's in no way subtle about anything.
I mean, I LOVE Regina. There is also no freaking way that adoption was legal (and how did they get Henry from Phoenix, AZ all to way to MAINE?), is there? Also, remember, he managed to get to/from Boston on his own to retrieve Emma, and REGINA DIDN'T NOTICE HE WAS GONE. CPS should've taken Henry away a looooong time ago

The way you used to post about TVD without watching TVD is basically how educated I am in OUAT and it's all through the lens of the Regina stans I have on my dashboard. It's hard for me to tell when an issue is legitimate and when it's been twisted and deformed because of the biases of the people I'm following.
I'd say with the adoption issue there is a legitimate annoyance there, but at the same time Regina is a frickin murderer with severe psychopathic tendencies. So. Priorities.
Even from the little I've seen of OUAT the adoption issue seems legitimate. Most fairytales have some undercurrent of "biology = REAL family" so I guess it's not surprising that made it into OUAT, even if it's disappointing since the show is after all a modernization of those fairytales.
But basically everything else as pertains to Regina seems to be really um... lol, I mean I don't even watch the show so I end up sitting there like "BUT ISN'T SHE THE BIG BAD DIDN'T SHE CAUSE ALL OF THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE". I guess I should just be glad they're woobie-ing a woman for once.

I don't know why anyone is defending Regina anymore. She just agreed with Cora to kill like everyone using Rumpelstiltskin in the last episode. I wanted to feel bad for Regina and I honestly thought she might start being nicer thanks to being under Archie/Jiminy's therapy and because he was nearly the only one lending a caring hand, but then she told him he got his PhD from a curse and hid her mother's appearance from everyone. Something drastic needs to be done with Regina and it needs to be done now. Nobody should trust her with the care of an 11 year old boy. Even if Emma isn't the best mother at least Emma has Snow and David in her corner to help with Henry. Along with Ruby, Granny, the dwarves and Archie

Nobody seemed to age except for Henry. Did he ever question that? My theory is that it probably dawned on him slowly, and is probably what cemented his belief in FTL/triggered his search for his birth mother. Because if you grow up and no one changing is the norm, that's not going to strike you as too odd until you realize you *are* changing.
But my feelings towards her are basically what some of the people here already said - she's an awesome character with so many issues omg, her mother is horrible and her life is so fucking tragic that I can't sometimes... but that doesn't make her a nice person who needs to be immediately forgiven for everything and allowed to raise a child for fuck's sake! These people have legitimate reasons to not trust her and hate her for six lifetimes.
