I love this! I think you really captured a moment here. I really can see Ted reacting like this. And then Remus being all Remus like.

I loved the touch of the ink stained hands, wondering how he got it and then it referring back to his marriage license. Lovely job as always!

Thanks very much! I haven't really been brave enough to tackle this moment before, so I'm glad you think it feels like a convincing reaction from Ted.

This is a good point -- is angst necessarily a negative thing when it inspires more Remus hugging? ;) Thanks for reading!

Ooh, good use of the prompt. I think this is a really effective tackling of a very difficult moment to get one's head round (I know I dread the moment I have to write it). I really liked the way you use the ink as a springboard for covering all sorts of other issues. Very clever. :)

I do think Ted is being rather unreasonable given that a) Tonks is clearly really happy and b) it does take two to tango, so to speak.

the Ministry froze her -- their -- bank account

Bastards!

And Remus' code is very good - however hard I think, I can't work out what he means by the first part!

His marriage license is signed in indelible ink.

I love how many meanings that could have. I hope it means what I think it means...

Thank you so much for writing this. And I don't mind angst at all. If you ship R/T you have to embrace the angst!

Yay, I'm so happy you liked the drabble! I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it difficult to get my head around this moment in the R/T story. I don't want to think Remus is totally paranoid about the Tonkses not being supportive of their marriage, and given how Ted acts so irrationally by running off and leaving the family, I have to think he probably had some words for Remus that pushed him over the edge. Even if it is unfair to Tonks. Maybe in this scenario he partly leaves out of shame for how he treated his daughter's husband? Anyway, I'm very glad you think how I dealt with that and the other issues of Tonks being made an outcast worked.

Remus' code is very good - however hard I think, I can't work out what he means by the first part!Oh, lol. I wasn't sure whether that was at all clear. The rodent mating ritual Remus is off to help with is preparations for Bill and Fleur's wedding. Rodents referring to weasels. They needed the (DADA) professor's help with security spells ( ... )

OMGGZZ, I love this. You really did capture what I think would be Ted and Andromeda's reaction.

I adore the ink and how stylistically you fitted it into the piece.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks very much! I'm really glad this feels IC to you, and that you like the ink theme throughout.

I'm not really here, but as I had a few minutes while printing off tomorrow's route (Mr Gilpin has just told me the forecast says it's going to be 2 degrees...) I read and enjoyed this! It's somehow easy to imagine Ted engaging his mouth before his brain in this instance - perhaps purely out of fear for his daughter and what he sees as Remus not taking care of her? Also easy to imagine Remus taking this so much to heart and letting it fester because his thinking is actually not that far away from Ted's. I like a good bit of irony!

I love the last line, and the association throughout of ink. And the 'rodent mating rituals', lol. Great stuff. :)

I nearly fell off my chair at 2 degrees, then realized you're probably in Celsius! Not that 35 degrees is really necessarily what you want to be standing outside in all day! You'll have to jump up and down and cheer enthusiastically for the horses to keep warm!

Anyway, thanks for taking a peep at this even though your weekend's a bit harried! I'm really glad you like it and feel it's believable for Ted to just give voice to his first reaction without editing himself. After all, Tonks has to get it from someone, and I don't think it's Andromeda. ;) I just can't imagine that Ted would have thought it was the best idea for Tonks to rush into marrying Remus, as volatile as things are, and surely he'd expect Remus, being older and wiser would have seen how much it could -- and has, here -- cost Tonks. I think he's entitled to say a few things he doesn't really mean! Very glad you think Remus reacts in a Remusy way, and thanks for your words about the ink them, too!

Have fun at the races! :)
