Big Obama Apple

Article of Obama taking his wife on a date to New York.

And while I think it's great for even the president to continue the romance in his life, I don't approve it being on taxpayer dime.

Can anyone confirm/deny how it was paid for? Any thoughts or opinions on the matter?

Why does it matter?

I'd like to be more in control of my tax dollars, or tax-fractions-of-pennies.

Knowing what he plopped on tax-dime helps me form a better opinion on the matter/him.

The president's salary comes from your tax dollars. It is also not nearly enough for what he is responsible for. And it should be perfectly acceptable for him to use his salary to take his wife out to dinner. (Although I don't get how it is national news).

It's news because his enemies can't find bigger things to beef with him about, lol.

How do you feel about corporations doing similar, or if you worked for a company that took a piece of your paycheck so the CEO or whatever could be a good husband to his wife, similarly?

Let's say that CEO or whatever was making a comparable salary to Obama, versus our common notion of millionare/billionare CEOs, for argument's sake, to keep things as similar as possible.

you know, the thing that is really bothering me about this article and the thing that nobody seems to mention at all is the fact that, for a so-called "date night", there sure were a fuckton of people invited.

"aides and media in tow". seriously? security i totally understand. but this wasn't a date night so much as it was a total publicity stunt.

Ok, seriously? Who gives a shit? The man took his wife out for dinner and show. Yes, he flew there on a jet. But he's the president, that's how he gets around. This is not a big deal. This is the first time I've heard of them doing something like this since he was inaugurated in January, and if the man is only romancing his wife once every five months, he better get cracking, cuz that's a shabby job.

In some fashion, everything the president does is on the taxpayer's dime. His salary is on our dime. So whether he put the gas in the jet with his own salary or with the tax money set aside to go into the "jet fuel fund," we paid for it.

And it's a recession, not a prohibition, republicans need to get their heads out of their asses. If nothing else, if people don't go out and do shit, no one will have any money. Plus, like I said before, he does this HOW often? And this is some kind of ridiculous why?

I agree that it's being much a monumentally bigger deal than it is.

I want to see an article that uses historical evidence to indicate how out of character this really is. If this is in fact the equivalent of using a teleprompter then I can't say I give a shit.

It's actually OOC for presidents to do good by their women.
