Took me two and a half hours (plus all the times before), but I FINALLY learned how to stop on my left foot (ice skating). And at a pretty fast speed too. Skating without gloves and a stick is always so weird though, eh? Phil Esposito said he never once skated without a stick and probably wouldn't be able to skate without one ( Read more... )

Play ice... no contest. Roller's okay, but what makes hockey so special is the fact that you're playing on ice. If you have a chance to play on ice, you should do it... there are so many good leagues and house-leagues and stuff in this area... and everyone's really nice. Ice, ice, baby.

Ice is cool and all but roller's more fun, maybe partly because I am SO MUCH BETTER at roller than I am at ice... I dunno, roller is just pure offense, and it's fun.

Maybe part of me is still bitter my parents weren't willing to spend money on ice hockey equipment growing up? (But a $4,000 viola = completely fine)
