Commodore Norrington was disliked by many in the first movie due to the fact he was 'against' Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, and Will Turner. Against meaning that he followed the law and swore to uphold it while the others repeatedly broke laws

I entirely agree with you. Perfect analysis of the situation. James deserved better than some of his "fans" (can you feel the irony in my voice) wished for him.

I only "discovered" LJ and the POTC fandom after DMC was released on DVD last year so in my boredom I've been reading the archives of some of the LJ POTC sites (especially those specific to the Navy Boys). So while I realize since these entries are over a year old and may not be read again I still would like to comment
