On Friday I went out on a spicy date with the gf and afterward we stopped in at Wegmans, the supermarket world's biggest symbol of American wealth and power. While there I spotted Wasabi Peas, a snackfood of Livejournal fame almost a year ago. This being western Pa I was shocked to see them and decided to buy a can ( Read more... )

Little known fact: "Wasabi" in the U.S. is horseradish with food coloring. Even the 5 star restaurants use horseradish (although according to NPR they don't know it ;-) ). So you're in the clear

Interesting. I remember reading some article a while back on Silicon Valley where wealth and power is measured by your ability to get sushi places to bring out the "real" wasabi. The CEO the reporter was with at the time tried to show-off and get the waiter to bring them out some, but failed.

I was hoping that since these things were imported they would actually have wasabi, but no such luck.

Unfortunatly I won't be able to attend reunion, since I'll be at my college graduation. All I have to say is: sonofabitch! Who the hell plans these things?!

I'd really like to go, but no such luck. If I could I'd skip graduation to make it! So I charge thee, Sir Drew, to tell everyone I said "hello."

I guess I'll have to schedule my own reunions with people when I make it down to D.C., starting with yourself ;c)
