Chanukkah Drabbles--Day 1

I'm not going to try to committ to a ficlet a day for the whole month, but--despite not being Jewish or any of my characters being Jewish--I am going to try for a ficlet a day for Chanukkah (I use the Ch spelling, because I've not the first clue of how to put an h with a dot under it to represent the aspiration of the het as opposed to the softer
