Bad movie watching continues unabated with The Thing from Another World, a 1954 sci-fi (no, really?) in which an alien spacecraft crashes in the Arctic and a reanimated alien terrorises a rather unperturbed set of scientists and military men. Yeah, that's much closer to John Carpenter's than this version. They had the magnesium ship bit but... went a different direction with pretty much everything else.
