During the UFC PPV on Saturday, Khalib Starnes, a Canadian fighter, had a really bad match. Since Saturday he has been released from his UFC contract. The following is a statement released by him. I grabbed it from bullshido.net, but I believe it was orignially printed on MMAweekly.com (or something like that ( Read more... )

I don't know much about UFC, but judging by how many fighters take on a sh1tload of sponsors, it's pretty clear that the the organization UFC doesn't pay.

So good for the fighter saying "there ain't enough money in this to make it worthwhile".

Is this the fighter that ran backwards through his whole fight? Hunh. Sounds like it is. That was a TERRIBLE fight.

The guys need a freakin' union. < /I jest >

this is the guy that kept running backwards. i have been reading a book called "a fighter's heart " by sam sheridan. he talks about rival organizations in japan that used to pay their fighters MUCH more. the UFC has bought up these organizations so they are now pretty much the only game in town...so they get to pay shit wages cause there is no where else to go.

This is a very entertaining and insightful letter.

But if you break a bone, is that not a reason for a TKO? If the bone was broken in Round 1, why answer the bell for Round 2?

In any case, it provides a good explanation for what we saw.

A. - Why call me out?

I suppose it could be a reason for a TKO. As for answering the bell, my guess would be that adrenaline may have masked the pain enough that he thought it was something minor.

assuming the "why call me out" was talking about the entry title, i just put that as you and i were talking about that particular fight on saturday night.

could you bring my ticket to the move this weekend? the rescheduled day is apparently aug. 10 and i will be in belgium. methinks i will cash it in and go see the police next thursday.

OK, I'll bring the ticket to the move. I suspect I'll be there more for the early part than the later part - but that's just a guess.

Since we are *also* going to The Police, maybe we can meet up anyway....
