I couldn't tell you why my brothers murder was overlooked, or why the Baudaliare orphans were placed in such peril time after time, despite their brave efforts to remain alive. Nor do I know the reason why such a despicable villian as Count Olaf has been able to evade the police for such a great amount of time.

I admit I don't know much about the workings of the police. They seem to operate more on hersay then actual evidence.
