How about this? *Beep!* We can always *ask*....

Okay, it is fun going through with a scanner and adding things to your wedding registry.

We spent Saturday's at Macy's in Herald Sq. in NYC pointing a handheld gadget at bar coded items. Now, given that we're both in our forties we have one of a lot of things. If not two, or five. We have almost an entire china set (from citabria's Mom), too.

Still, there are a few things we added (*beep!*) like the canonical fondue pot. Unfortunately, it was Macy's so there wasn't anything I could just add for kicks. (My brother bought a friend the quart of oil that he had snuck onto his wedding registry when his bride-to-be wasn't looking.)

That said, Macy's ended up owning the Frango chocolate franchise. :-D

There were a few kitchen gadgets that caught our eye...hence the title of this post...that were totally cool. If we happen to get one (by gift or otherwise) then we'll have the problem of putting it somewhere, of course.

citabria convinced me that we had to go to the Manhattan Macy's because they had things that weren't at other Macy's. Maybe that was true but it wouldn't be anything that we'd actually add to our registry. Like the Vera Wang corn cob plate. Or the Martha Stewart grape peeler. Or the giant DKNY panini grill.

It was weird looking at some of the stuff. Like, there were these five pound metal condiment trays that apparently also can be used as a deadly weapon. (One even had an edge that, when sharpened, could be quite the nasty boomerang.) Then there were the votive holders that were two feet high. Why? Um...it's art.

Still, that store is very cool and 40s retro in places so the trip to see it was worth it.
