Oh, Mr. Darcy!

Earlier today I finished watching the 1995 BBC t.v. version of "Pride and Prejudice" with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. I watched the first three hours yesterday and the last three hours today. I love Jane Austen, especially this novel, so I was weary about the series even though I've heard nothing but great things about it. I ended up LOVING it! ( Read more... )

For some reason I thought that you watched that version! But good thing you did because it's fantastic. It's the best Austen interpretation of the novel. Not like that horrible recent movie version. :\

No. I got it as a gift for Christmas, but I only just watched it now. I don't doubt that it's the best interpretation of an Austen novel. One of the better film adaptations of any novel...period.

Yuck. I didn't bother with the new version.

Now I'm jealous! Apparently my local video store lost the first disk someone, so now I can't watch the whole thing.

Great movie though.

Really? That sucks. You should buy yourself a copy. It's lowered in price since it first came out.

Heeheehee. I've been a Jane Austen fangirl since 10th grade. I'm so glad you enjoyed this P&P adaptation. =)

I think I got into Austen around grade 12. P&P was the first one I read. It remains my favourite, although I also really love Persuasion.

Which movie is your icon from?

Yeah, I absolutly love it too, as you can tell from my review. lol. It's one of those things that you look forward to watching again. Not many things manage to do that for me, so that's how I knew this was so great. :) I'm glad that you liked it. I hate when people just consider it a "chick story". It's nice to hear a guy enjoy it just as much as a woman.

That's very true. If guys did enjoy it most certainly wouldn't admit it. I think though, for the most part, guys just wouldn't even try to give this a chance which is why I was impressed that you liked it so much. You gave it a chance. :)
