The second bookcase was much easier

So once I had the hang of the first bookcase, I was able to put together the next one lickety=split, without assembling any of the bits backward, to boot ( Read more... )

I haven't, but Big!Bear brought the movie to work one weekend. That, too, was bleak, but not as bleak as The Road. I think I'll be giving the rest of his work a miss. :P

When you start expanding bookshelves into the basement, be sure to measure carefully before buying any more Billys: the tallest ones don't actually fit in the basement - one of the problems we had when t! moved in...

For the "Backwards" shelf, if you have white book shelves, and seeing as how you are in serious "bricolage" mode, you can actually buy iron-on (many-colours available) laminate at most home hardware stores, ie Home Depot, Reno Depot, Rona, etc, etc. And, literally, the longest bit is waiting for the iron to warm up. You measure twice, cut once and iron on your strip.... :-) Hides the mdf look of the backward-ness of the shelf.
