This is a very cool, large, older cemetery in the middle of one of the neighborhoods, and I took a lot of photos there I will post about at some point. For this post, though, I wanted to share a monument that completely surprised me.
I love this statue on its own: there's such a sense of movement and joy with it. But it actually goes with the bench/monument behind it (family named Puddy), which has one of the most beautiful epitaphs I think I've ever seen:
"Come sit with us awhile and share our sorrow. Though you weep, share the joyful memories too. Look in your heart: In truth you mourn for that which has been your delight. For joy and sorrow are inseparable."
I love the expression on each kids face (the boys in the front and the back, whom you can practically hear screaming with that particular pitch of joy and terror only kids seem capable of), the hat nearly coming off the one boy's head, and the girl's ponytail flying in the wind.
