So sorry Shadey. :( Could you maybe extract the important sims and place them on an external hard drive? *hugs*

I daren't use anything from my old sims hard drive; a fresh start is the only way to ensure that I'm not copying over any corrupted files.

I have some preciously uploaded sims, including some (though not all) of the Pinches from my OWBC, and I will definitely use them if I do another OWBC.

Oh my! O_O Grr, technology! *shakes fist*

Yes, life goes on and starting fresh is sometimes the best way to go. I will be looking forward to your TPU. I am sure is will be filled with awesome characters like in your OWBC. xD

Yeah, sucks big time. Thanks for your sympathy Circe.

I am looking forward to get publishing again, that does cheer me up. In fact; I'm even more cheered up knowing that there are people who are looking forward to it too.

Of course, we love you Shadey. It's like you're a part of the LJ/Boolprop family and we miss you when you're not around. I do know what it's like to lose your computer and everything on it, I did that with my old desktop and nearly lost my legacy twice due to strange glitching, I saved it and haven't had issues since so *knock on wood* if I had wood around that's not MDF...*knocks on chilla shavings* Close enough. :)

Thank you AniMei, it good to feel I'm still in the LJ/Boolprop family. :)

I've been close to losing my sims in the past but have always had a recent backup to restore from. This time it's been different; all files on my computer became corrupted, including my backed up game.

lol - chilla shavings, I've no idea what they are; when I searched it I got "did you mean 'child savings?'".

Thanks Lark, hugs are very much appreciated. Especially today as I've had a bit of a crap day at work... but that's a different story. Nothing a game of sims can't cure. ;)

These things cannot always be predicted, and even if you did have backups, who knows when the corruption started so I think you are probably better off starting over from scratch.

Just remember to play at least as much as you spend time downloading. I have a no downloading policy myself specifically because I had a problem of just downloading and never playing during my The Sims days.

Good luck with your challenge, it looks like it is a fun one.

Exactly. From scratch is the only way to ensure there is no corruption transferred to my new hard drive.

Yes, one can sometimes get a little carried away with the downloading - there is so much nice stuff out there!

Thank you so much, I am straining at the bit here to get on with that challenge. I started playing in on my old hard drive and though I didn't get very far, it was definitely fun.
