Ho-hum..

Oct 24, 2006 03:47

I'm feeling somewhat dissatisfied with myself at the moment. Can't quite place why, though. I know some of it is rather stupid.. I feel like such a slacker and a loser for never doing anything to my MySpace to make it look any better than the default. B once gave me a hard time about it, and I just laughed it off. But even the boy made his look all ( Read more... )

Well, if you don't mind my interjecting, I don't think you have to know every little thing about a subject to be good at it. Multimedia is a terribly broad field, and from what I've heard, you've been doing a lot, and learning a lot too. I get discouraged in my own major pretty often, usually for the same kinds of things you're talking about here, but you can't compare yourself to everyone around you all the time. It's not fair to you. You are well-accomplished in your field (or so it seems to me), and I don't think there's any shame in not knowing everything.

I believe in you!

Oh, alright, that makes sense. Sorry, you've refered to me as "the boy" before in person because I've been the youngest male present. Just wanted to make sure that you hadn't tripped upon a myspace of mine that doesn't (or atleast shouldn't) exist.

Why are all your posts being made twice, once as you and once anonymous?

Oh! I've been in that boat once. Web multimedia was something I really wanted to get into. I think I alreayd told you this once.

However after hs, and meeting some ppl on the internet >.>
I realise that web designing has gotten really saturated. There's 14 year kids building decent looking websites and proclaiming themselves as pro web designers. their secret... lots of tutorials online, cut and pasting, and most likely dreamweaver. lol

But no worries, I gave it up because I really dont have a passion for it. If you do, it will obviously show through your work. I have a friend who also studies and work in the web designing field. Her work is amazing. she floats around the interweb as brkn_doll. Her work will school those kids any day. And I'm sure you will too!! maybe your creative spark is on hiatus. It happens ^_^

sorry didnt mean to write a novel.

Hmm... I'm not a multimedia/web design major. I'm a multimedia programming major. So, what makes what I'm learning/going to be learning different is that I do all the stuff that's MORE than just aesthetics: the programming side of things. That is what will, hopefully, allow me to stand out. Any design student can do a website, because HTML is easy. But I want to be able to do the really nifty stuff. I want to learn advanced Flash and Flex usage, as well as Javascript.

It wasn't really a lack of creative spark... It was just that I was suddenly overwhelmed with shame that I had never bothered to teach myself CSS, even though I had always meant to.

so stop windgeing and do it Lovely. Go, learn! From what I can tell once you know one programming language, you can learn other's with that as a base. Oh, and Bill want's me to tell you that if you ever want/need help with programming things, he's willing to be of assistance. I really wish you would take him up on this for both your sakes, or at least look into it? He's stagnating and teaching is something that he enjoys but doesn't realize he enjoys.

Luv ya!
