I needed some opinions.

And, well, I wanted to ask a non affiliated, non-biased car group and this is about the only one I kinda participate in. Warning, long story below ( Read more... )

Annnnd, I didn't realize I had posted up about the E34 several months ago. It's been a crazy year. I would like to add the fact that at this point all the work that needed to be done on the 540 has beencompleted and at this point it's completely rock-solid.

It's ironic that I'll be making this car the daily driver(it's much rarer than the GT-Four as well as much more powerful), but that's how the cookie crumbles right now.

As someone who spent a fair chunk of cash on swapping cars for love I would say, if you can't afford it, don't do it. However I know what it's like. If it was me I would keep the Beemer and get the old one you had before as a side project.

Definitely understood. I should clarify that whichever one I get the E34 isn't going anywhere... I've put an insane amount of work and money into that one already and I'd be kicking myself for selling that one. The GT-Four would be a second car I'd be swapping out with. Money really isn't an issue at this point, other than saving up. The primary consideration is time: Do I have enough to fix my old one up, or should I save a bit more and get that good one? As I might be going back to the family business within a year(which means reduced income but I've got the opportunity to take over in several years), I'm not sure if I want a project hanging around that I won't be able to finish.

I've owned, built and raced two hot rods at once.

Splitting my wallet was a bad mistake. I had a blast, but turning twice as many bolts every weekend and lots of late nights grew tiresome and it took twice as long to get the cars where I wanted them. I would have been better of focusing time and cash on making one awesome hot rod instead of two.

Having two broke cars at the same time kinda sucked, thank goodness for the truck :P

I suggest one daily driver you don't flux with and one toy is the sane limit. BMW's are not cheap for parts as you well know by now.

Taking a few photos for old times sake and let 'er go is my recommendation.
