My friends moiety_tx and nescafe got married this weekend! It was beautiful.

queenofhalves performed the ceremony, and I was really, really impressed. This is a woman who's fairly shy, and isn't exactly at the lower end of the generalized-anxiety spectrum. There must be something in the water down there that makes people run awesome weddings. inhumandecency walked us through the creation of a ceremony that several people said was the nicest/most personally appropriate they'd ever seen, and was a rock solid officiator. (If you weren't standing close enough to see his hands shaking. :) ) I believe he called up 'stine a few times during the process in search of advice and guidance, so she deserves some credit in our marriage as minister-mentor.

(At least I didn't notice any relatives keeling over of heart attack.)

My Catholic grandparents cornered my mom during the reception, quite concerned that our minister didn't have the credentials to run a legal wedding. Fortunately, the County Clerk had equipped me with a written statement for exactly this situation that, yes, ordination by the Universal Life Church was quite legal under Michigan law for officiating weddings.

Apparently Victor's grandfather approached his mother afterwards and said "What sort of ceremony was that?" She replied "It was Wiccan, Dad."

Close enough. :)
