My friends moiety_tx and nescafe got married this weekend! It was beautiful.

queenofhalves performed the ceremony, and I was really, really impressed. This is a woman who's fairly shy, and isn't exactly at the lower end of the generalized-anxiety spectrum. But she got up there in front of a hundred people and married off two of her closest friends, and I'd say that she never broke a sweat, except that it was 80 degrees out in the Texas sun, so that would just be silly. However, she certainly didn't look nervous -- honestly, she looked like a pro.

The wedding was pretty interesting in that if you swapped Christine out with some random minister, it would have looked pretty normal. White dress, a lovely processional, devastatingly handsome long-haired men in tuxedos, etc. Even if you left her there, but didn't pay very close attention to exactly what she was saying, you might not have caught on that anything at all out of the ordinary was taking place. (At least I didn't notice any relatives keeling over of heart attack.) But the ritual that she designed and wrote for our friends was beautifully tailored to them, and also a wonderful vehicle for all of the new things that she's been learning for the past few years. It was very clear the entire way through that what was going on was always for their benefit, and never once for the purposes of simply doing things "the way that things are done". It was skillfully and carefully crafted, both part by part and as a whole, and she carried it off as well as I could have possibly imagined. I was deeply impressed.

During a toast at my wedding reception, blanu said, "I've always said that if you're going to marry anyone, it should be Christine." That might prove a bit tricky. But if you're thinking about getting married by someone anytime soon, you could do far worse than to give her a call.
