He dropped a bag of Puking Pastilles. Where? Oh somewhere by the lake? Nevermind the lake was ginormous. He was going to kill George. Anyone could have picked them up by now. And the trouble they would get in if someone accidentally ingested them.
Crap Fred saw Hermione sitting by the lake.
Well, that could be a problem. Hermione was decent enough girl kind of cute too. A little too serious maybe. She wasn't on board with Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes. She didnt understand the twin's vision.
But despite her serious nature, Fred liked Hermione. It must be something in the Weasley DNA that drew them to the bookworm. His whole family adored her. Fred mostly liked yanking her chain. It was easy to do. Getting her riled up was simple and FUN.
Fred just couldn't resist.
"Oi Granger!" Fred called. "You seen a little brown bag out here anywhere?"
Relief washed over him. So many girl were fawning over Viktor it was nice that Hermione could see through it.
"Seriously, tell that Potter kid and Ickle Ronniekins to shove off and come hang with me and George," he teased.
Fred saw her flip over and smile at him and his stomach turned over. She looked simply adorable. He shook it off. Get a grip Weasley, he told himself. "Well, I am sure Ron or Ginny told you that we had a bad row with mum over the summer. George and I want to open our own joke shop. It's not just going to be some little thing or some mail order business. it's going to be a whole affair. As soon as we have enough money we are going to get premises. " Fred smiled sadly, "The world feel like it's getting sort of dark. I feel like people could use a little comic relief. We have even drawn up a business proposal. As soon as we have the money..." We are out of here, he thought but refrained from saying it to her. She might tell his mum.
"Would you and George really want me tagging along?" She raised an eyebrow at him, but the idea was tempting. Really tempting.
She tilted her head, as if carefully considering his words. "The world is growing dark; Harry is so uneasy sometimes...." She shook her head, dismissing those thoughts. "I think it's a brilliant idea, actually. I only fuss when you test on first years or don't think of consequences. But a full business proposal? I fully support that."
"Of course we would. Georgie and I like you. You're practically a member of the family. I don't want to strangle you like I do Ron and Ginny."
He practically jumped to his feet screamed like a little girl when Hermione said she supported him. "Really?" Fred beamed. "That means a lot coming from you. George and I have made so many plans. We have worked so hard. And as for those first years they signed a release form, I keep telling you that. But seriously George and I are going to make this happen. But mum she doesnt believe in us. She just harps on the O.W.L.S we didn't get. Be more like Percy , she says. If I was like Percy I would avada kedavra myself." He propped his head up in his hands and sighed, "George and I haven't told too many people. The family knows. Lee knows but that is about it. I am pretty sure Ron and Ginny think this is a phase but it's not
( ... )
"Perhaps.... I could tag along with you and George for a bit. It... It might be nice." She was pretty sure Ron would huff and puff quite a bit more. And Harry...well, she couldn't just abandon him, not now, but she could have a little break. A mental break! Then she could help him.
"Plans and hard work?" She grinned up at him. "You just might impress me after all. Your mum worries, and that's perfectly normal. It doesn't mean she doesn't believe in you. You just... You have to prove yourself. When you're known for jokes and pranks, it's hard to be taken seriously, I'd imagine."
"George and I would appreciate your input on our business plans," Fred commented. And that was the truth. But he also knew Hermione running with him and George would mean that would have to cut back on some of their more illicit behavior. And they would have to clean up their language.
He sighed and said," I hope mum does come around. Believe it or not it's hard when she is angry at me. I don't particularly like disagreeing with her." The next words seem to come out of his mouth without his permission. "You have a nice smile, you know. I haven't seen it much. You usually scowl at me."
Fred couldn't help but laugh at her blush. Then he shook his head,"I cant believe you are going to the ball with Viktor Krum." Now, he hoped Viktor did find the puking pastilles.
"Well, I bet George is looking for me. So, I should look for the contraband and make haste back to the Tower." He stood and looked down at her. "Are you done out here? Do you want me to stay with you?"
Fred was torn between wanting to remain in her company and getting as far away from her as possible.

Hermione blinked as she felt the pink rising in her cheeks. "I.. I'll try not to scowl so much then..."

But then, to her surprise, she smirked at him, "I'll be sure to scowl at him though."
