Transformers

Everyone I've talked to has seemed to like it, and it wasn't the sad aborted fetus of a once beloved childhood memory I half expected it to be, but I was still disappointed. I'm surprised I was disappointed, because I thought I had set my expectations pretty low.
Some thoughts:
1. It was corny with a capital C. Maybe the original cartoon was just as ( Read more... )

I enjoyed it for the movie it was; but I was disappointed in the movie it was trying to be.

If that makes sense?

Yes Bumble Bee was a VW bug.
The makers of the movie contacted VW about using the VW beatle as Bumble Bee, but VW didn't want anything to do with the movie. So GM stepped in and said here use the 09 Camaro (due out in Aug 08).

I wonder if the original cartoon asked for permission. Copyright/trademark laws in our country are so screwed up. The image of the VW bug has been around for ... decades. It is part of our culture and should be in the public domain.

According to Wikipedia... Bay rejected the use of the VW bug because he didn't want the film compared to Herbie the Love bug.

We watched it at the theater by your house. I couldn't stop thinking about head trauma. I was a little nervous to go into the bathroom.

Every single comment you made hit home with me.
Ugh. The more I thought about the movie the less I loved it.
Yet another grand example of Michael Bay's work, shallow, cheesy, overly and underly dramatic all at once. Flat is a good word for it.

Omg the shakey camera!!! And seriously, did they need to rehash the Armagheddon soundtrack?

It could have been worse, but it could have been SO MUCH BETTER.

Robotech\Macross... LOL, yeah they better not touch that. Live action anime is a bad idea.

I did like The Island though. Did you see that one? Good flick, I thought.

Didn't see that one. I admit I liked The Rock though, Probably because of Sean Connery.

I was thinking about Gunhed today... for obvious reasons. When I want to like a movie I always compare it subconsciously to Gunhed. It usually helps.

WOW yes I do to and I watched "Borat" yesterday and thought well it wasn't as bad as "Gunhed"
