Transformers

Everyone I've talked to has seemed to like it, and it wasn't the sad aborted fetus of a once beloved childhood memory I half expected it to be, but I was still disappointed. I'm surprised I was disappointed, because I thought I had set my expectations pretty low.
Some thoughts:
1. It was corny with a capital C. Maybe the original cartoon was just as corny, but regardless, my stomach for it has certainly shrunk since I was a wide-eyed child.
2. The CG was great, but the cinematography for the fighting was so shaky I couldn't really tell what was happening most of the time during the fight scenes.
3. They killed Jazz and no one seemed to give a shit.
4. Their wasn't a lot of time invested in developing any of the Transformers personalities. They spent a lot of time on Optimus prime's platitudes though...
5. Their were some Transformers I didn't recognize that seemed like they just made them up. Why wasn't Bumble bee a VW bug?
6. Some of the computer hacking stuff was painfully retarded. Reminded me of a recent PA comic

I thought it certainly could have been worse, and I think it way could have been better. It was glossy and tarted up like a cheap whore and seemed to lack the spirit of the original creation. I pray to God they won't ever re-make: Gobots, Voltron, GI Joe, Robotech, or ... any others I can think of. Have there been great remakes of old cartoons?
