It's the 80s. Do a lot of coke and vote for Ronald Reagan!

My friend Chelsea and I were going to watch Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tonight, but Blockbuster didn't have it. Boo. Instead, we watched Flashdance and Footloose back-to-back. Hooray for impromptu 80s night ( Read more... )

Nightmare not being able to watch 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, it's my favourite MGM musical and I'm totally sad and have 2 DVD versions of it 2VHS versions and just in case 3 taped off of the telly versions too. But enough of that.
I Love the 80s Might help ya!

How about the Brat Pack movies?

Sixteen Candles
Weird Science
The Breakfast Club
Tron
The Last Starfighter

As for what to wear? Have you ever seen Wedding Singer? That's pretty close... I was a kid in the 80's, but I do remember *some* of the fashion. Big hair, day-glo clothes, baggy t-shirts and skin tight spandex pants.

And given that I was really too young for it, that might not be good advice...I was playing with Cabbage Patch Kids, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake.

Ah, I'm so jealous. I want to go to an 80s dance party. :P I have no helpful suggests as I'm actually the least creative person alive, but I hope you have fun with it.

As a complete aside that relates to nothing, I just saw the 1931 Dracula for the first time this week. And when that moment in your icon occurred, I thought of your icon. Probably because it was one I asked about for that meme, but still. :D

Those Brat Pack movies sound good!
Very iconic, and something that you can easily leave on mute that people should know.
HP5freak's suggestions seemed pretty good.
I was in 6th grade 88-89, so I definitely wore some neon, and tight pants/bike shorts!
Also, to go with the baggy shirts, were the plastic rings with a slash through them [like the 'no smoking' sign or whatever], that you thread the bottom edge of the shirt through on one side. :P

Leg warmers with high heels... [which has come back for some people!]
Skin tight jeans, too... ruffley skirts.
Shirts and sweat shirts with puff paints [maybe more of a kids thing]
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead is from 1991, but a hilarious and classic movie that kind of catches the tail end of the 80s fashion scene. If you've never seen it, you should *definitely* check it out!
It has some classic lines, like "the dishes are done, man" and "I'm right on that, Rose!". :P
