Very serious TV business

1) I just found out that Captain Phil Harris from Deadliest Catch has died. He was only 53. *woe* (Okay, this bit actually is serious.)

2) A lot of people on my flist seem to be watching Fringe all of a sudden. I've watched from the beginning, but don't really post about it in a fannish sort of way. That's because I watch for Lord Denethor Walter ( Read more... )

Now you're reminding me that Sydney wasn't anywhere near my favorite Alias character. (I loved Sark, Spymommy, and Spydaddy best.) I found Sydney/Vaughn a black hole of boredom, as opposed to just not feeling Peter/Olivia, so it could be worse.

The Denethor thing is why I love Walter so much. I was hooked from the first episode when he gleefully made LSD.

I want more Astrid!

5- I was trying to catch up on FNL via Netflix on Sunday. Interestingly enough, I find Porter much more attractive and interesting on Caprica than on FNL. At least for that brief bit he was on.

2- The interaction b/w Peter and his father and Walter and Astrid are more interesting and intriguing than b/w Peter and Olivia. I love Joshua Jackson and Peter's character but I'm having trouble shipping him w/ Olivia.

4-I missed the movie. I only saw a bit of it, but it seemed kind of interesting and not as horrifyingly bad as a lot their movies. And I thought I might have spotted someone I liked playing a cameraman.

I keep fading in and out w/ Lost. Every time I decide to go back to watching I have no idea what's going on and I don't enjoy that feeling as much as I did with the X-Files.

The best S(k)iffy movies are the worst ones. The meteor one did have some of the worst special effects I've seen in anything recent, though, so I'll give it that.

I really enjoy the Fringe mythology episodes. They let the characters actually grow for those and the MotW eps they seem to be static to me. I've just accepted Olivia is just like that. Stiff and driven. More of the traditional male role. If that is her acting range then she is perfect for that park. Peter gets to be the female role then. Ha! I just find it relaxing fun. As far as shipping goes...I am mostly amused that Walter is a big shipper. To me Olivia is too screwed up for relationships right now and Peter is too... shimmery.

I still watch LOST and it is starting to make sense to me so that should tell you how far gone I am. I post all of my thoughts over at my community (flight_815) which is why it doesn't show up on my personal lj. I am a little annoyed with the complainers. LOST has always been crack. Embrace it or shut up. I want to enjoy it until it runs out.

Walter being a shipper is really funny.

I'm still on board Lost because, yes, it's always been cracked out. I like - or love to hate - the characters and I want to see what craziness the writers come up with next. It's fun!

I want to get through S2 before we leave on Monday, so I think tonight is going to be an FNL night at my house.

I stopped watching Fringe five episodes in because it seemed to be steering straight into conspiracy theories left and right ala the later seasons of The X-Files. That's just so very tiring to watch on a week by week basis(same reason I shelved Lost).

I did get started on it again last week though, and I've almost caught up. Can't say I share your dislike for Olivia, but Astrid and Walter are indeed very entertaining to watch :) Here's to hoping more people start watching, and we get a third season!

I wouldn't say I dislike Olivia, but more that something about the combination of character and actress isn't working for me. I want to like her, but just can't seem to.
