Decapitation à la Hutchinson (EDIT: à la Diana Harmon)

Aug 25, 2016 18:04

Somewhere between “Little Girl Lost” and “Fatal Charm”, the statuette on the window sill lost its head. Hutch is a bit of a klutz. (Also, he paints still lifes. And, um, portraits of his beloved plants?)

BIG EDIT: Just rewatching "Fatal Charm", and yeah, it's the crazy girlfriend Diana Harmon who breaks the statue when she destroys Hutch's place. ( Read more... )

This is so exciting---you may have seen that I'd posted months ago about Hutch's Toulouse Lautrec poster and pondered if he'd studied art history.
But I never realized he paints himself!

Reminds me of Yeoman Janice Rand who has a painting in process on an easel in her quarters. (Star Trek TOS, in case anyone reads this who doesn't know who Janice Rand is. [wut? inconceivable!])

It took me a while to notice, too. As far as I can remember, it is never, NEVER mentioned aloud in canon, and rarely in fanon, too. But the visual evidence remains there, through his move from the canal cottage to Venice Place and through all four seasons (so it can't be just some girlfriend's stuff or something; unless he lends his apartment as an atelier for some poor artist friend). I'll post more about his artistic ventures later!

OMG--that is too funny. And whilst I've noticed the statue of angels kissing, never paid attention to the headless woman.

I spotted the headless version first, but never expected to see it with a head!

Do you happen to have any idea if there is fic in which Hutch paints (or his bedroom gallery of unfinished works is explained in some other way)? I have yet to come across anything of the sort.

There are actually quite a few fic where Hutch paints. And you'd think, since I do a weekly rec post, that I would know them. But I am terrible remembering titles, even my own fic, so I will try to scout around for some.

HEY! that's a perfect theme for next Tuesday recs.

Yay, I'm really looking forward to that rec post! I'm a newbie in this fandom (it was mid-June when I watched my first ever episode) and have a lot to find out. Which is half the fun, really.
