We are getting our ducts cleaned Thursday. They are 95 years old and we can safely assume its never been done and my sinuses are killing me. It can't hurt and its cheaper than doctors if you get them on a discount. Also, they will run a camera down there and let us know about leaks, etc, a thing I would like to know

Is there such thing as a propane heater? One that works on that bottled stuff you get for the BBQ grill? It ought to be easy to store a spare propane tank or two for the odd cold dark day.

Sure is. Got one here for last ditch heat. If my gas well hiccups AND the firewood runs out I have that.

The heater I found at HD above runs on either NG or propane.

Odd thing is... there doesn't seem to be many of either around any more?

That would be kinda neat. I used to see them in Europe.

I was wrong... I only checked Lowes and Home Depot before. A quick on-line search found many sources.

Pick one then have it installed by someone competent.

I prefer the infrared type over the 'blue flame' type. The IR heats objects which retain and re-radiate, the other heats the air.

Thanks a lot. We can have one of those put up in the rumpus room in the basement where it will heat the whole basement and save all the plumbing from freezing at the same time. Then we can sleep on cots and be reasonably comfortable for a very long time.
