Okay, I'm against the death penalty, but here's what most anti-death penalty advocates miss:
Comaring abortion and the death penalty is inherently flawed. Babies, fetus's, whatever you want to call them, are innocent. Someone that has raped and killed a dozen people isn't. Therefore, we are killing one segment of the population for trying to be born, and killing another segment for taking human life, and therefore, is judged by many to deserve death. That's the difference.
we have most likely put some "innocent" people to death via capital punishment because some have been released from life inprisionment after DNA tests proved they did not commit the crime. That, however, is not why I am against the death penalty. I don't like it because it costs so much --it is cheaper to keep someone in prison for life and I support anything that saves my tax dollars. I agree with the church's stance on abortion. I find it disgusting that it is used as a form of birth control when there are preemtive options available that do not cause death.
So you hope we will just forgive the flawed logic because you know it is flawed and said it anyway. Instead you expect us to just accept the even more flawed conclusion that Bush is somehow hypocritical in this
( ... )
I will never feel ashamed for taking a "cheap jab" at George W. Bush because he has taken so many cheap jabs at others. I do feel saddened for Terri and her family on both sides of the issue. my hope is that people will look at this sad situation and learn that it is good to have documentation in place stating their wishes if a similar situation were to occur to them. as for gaining your contempt --I am crushed :(
